How can I upload jpg format photos from my mac to iCloud?

When I try to upload jpg format photos from my mac to iCloud, I get a message that only jpeg format photos can be uploaded. What should I do?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

How exactly are you trying to upload? The web interface? Photo Stream? iCloud Drive? Are you trying to upload a folder or a single image file?

I go to my iCloud account on the web and click on "upload". Then I select the photos I have saved in "Photos" on my mac. The first five photos (all jpg not jpeg format, by the way) get uploaded to my iCloud page. Then, I get the message that only jpeg format photos can be uploaded. I am confused.

Change the extension from JPG to JPEG

These file types are supported:

Images for My Photo Stream: JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and RAW.
Video and file formats for iCloud Photo Sharing: MP4 and QuickTime file types, and H.264 and MPEG-4 Video file formats. Videos can be up to 5 minutes in length.
