I don't want my iPhone to connect to Bluetooth

Hello all,

I have looked online before posting here but have not found a good answer.

Question up front: How do I keep my iPhone from connecting to a Bluetooth connection in a car and once it has, how do I remove the information from the car.

Background:

I had to rent a car due to mine needing service. It was a Hyundai if that makes any difference.

When I got in the rental car, I noticed my iPhone (iPhone6) had already connected with the rental car's Bluetooth without any action taken by me. (I had to actually set up the Bluetooth service in my F150 - it was not automatic)

When I discovered this, I turned the Bluetooth off. However, it still remained connected to my iTunes.

I navigated through the system on the car and found, "Alexa's iPhone", "Elaine's iPhone", and two Samsung phones listed.

I could see an issue with phone information remaining in the car's Bluetooth memory.

I can't determine how this happened nor how to get the information deleted from the car's computer. Can someone else who rents the car next see my information? (I do know you can turn the Bluetooth off but this happened seemingly instantly)

Thank you in advance.

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.4

When you say the phone connected to the car, do you mean you could make phone calls using it? Or only that it showed up in the car's list of Bluetooth devices? If you couldn't make calls it wasn't connected. But if you go to Settings/Bluetooth the phone will be in Discoverable mode, and will show up in the car's list, even if it hasn't connected. If you turn off Bluetooth on the phone and it disappears from the car's list it was never connected.

If you turn off the car or are away from it, if you go to Settings/Bluetooth do you see an entry for the car that says "disconnected?" If you don't, then it was never connected.

Thank you kindly for the reply.

My Bluetooth was "on" as I got out of my car and into the rental. But it automatically connected and added my contact list (as I was transferring items from one car to the other). I didn't thing the connections were automatic.

Than you all for the information. I also found just a few minutes ago this video link for the removal of information from a car)
