Added camera support. Although that's mainly handled by the camera makers, they make the Log and Transfer plugins. But the interface for those newer ones work in FCP 7, not FCP 6. BUT...because FCP 7 was discontinued 4 years ago, many makers have pulled their existing Log and Transfer plugins, and not making them anymore for newer cameras...choosing to focus on current editing software compatibility.

Thanks for the reply and the links. I do not do that much videotaping, mostly film, photo, slide and old videotape transfer. So not overly concerned about interfacing with new cameras. Main concern is using newer codecs and motion, along with current templates for DVD menus, and possibly After Effects. If I purchase Studio 3 of off ebay for a decent price, would I be able to do more and would the look of the video improve?
I cannot recommend you buy 5 year old software that won't run on current computers and OS. FCP 7...might. DVD studio pro, Compressor, Motion...won't. If you buy that software, I hope you have an old system and old OS to run it on...and I hope you don't buy it for more that $100.
But I still can't recommend it...it's old tech, and technology advances fast. I can recommend Adobe CC...although that goes by a monthly subscription...and it doesn't author DVDs (no more Encore). So you might also have to invest in TOAST...although that might not allow you to make nice menus.
Actually, the latest version of Toast (14) has stepped up to make an effort to fill the hole left when iDVD was abandoned by Apple - by adding custom menu creation functionality:
