Pandora plays automatically after ending a call

I have the Pandora app installed on my iPhone 5c, and since installing iOS 8.4, each time I end a phone call, Pandora will start playing whatever I was last listening to. It is very annoying and unwanted, considering that it started blasting rap music in my office at work after a call. This never happened prior to the latest update.

When researching online, I found a site that recommended uninstalling Pandora, restarting the iPhone, and then reinstalling Pandora. Another user claimed that this worked for them, so I tried it. It worked for me about two days, and now it has started doing this again.

If anyone has a fix or any advice for this issue, please let me know. I would love to get this issue resolved as soon as possible.

Thank you for your help!

A support representative from Pandora replied to my message and gave me the following list of steps to try:

1) Uninstall the Pandora app on your device:

Hold down the Pandora icon on the desktop until all the icons start 'shaking.' Then touch the tiny "x" that appears in the upper left of the Pandora icon, and confirm that you want to delete the app.

2) Go to your computer and launch iTunes.

3) Delete Pandora from the iTunes list of Applications (it's an option from the list on the left, below Music).

4) Sign out of the iTunes Store (click your iTunes Store sign-in information, usually an email address, in the upper right of the screen and select 'sign out').

5) Plug your device into your computer using the white USB cable, then select 'sync' in iTunes.

6) Sign back in to the iTunes Store on your computer (again, in the upper right). This account may possibly use the same email address as your Pandora account, but may have a different password.

7) Select 'sync' in iTunes, one last time.

Then re-install Pandora via the App Store *on the device*, not on your computer.

I went through these and it solved the issue for about a day, then it started back again. I let her know that the issue returned and she said that it was a problem with Pandora's app and they were working to resolve it. Hopefully I won't have to wait much longer before they release another update!

If you research this issue you'll find that the iPhone does this not just for Pandora but for a whole host of services and music. There are lot's of people complaining about it, over an extended period of time but no comment or solution from Apple has been forthcoming. Just Google "iphone how to stop autoplay when ending a call" to see what I mean.

I have gone as far as to call Apple support, only to have the rep hang up on me.

Call me cynical but you have to ask, "Is Apple at all interested in fixing it?".

When you think about autoplay as a concept, Note YouTube (Google) does this too, where autoplay is the default for videos. It is in their interest to boost pushed content and plays. When you are dealing with a company as big as Apple (and YouTube) - setting things to autoplay will dramatically boost plays. Boosting plays boosts revenues, so don't expect a fix anytime soon. - Just my opinion...
