Why is FM radio only on iPod nano?

The iPod nano has the FM radio feature. I would love to see this added to iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. It cannot be expensive to add if it is already on the cheapest of these four products.

Does anyone know why this feature (which worked fine on my pre-smartphone phone) is withheld from Apple products?

I know different buyers will value different features but, for me, FM radio is a basic requirement of a communications/entertainment device.

Thanks.

P.S. After writing this I found a link that tells us that FM is available already on Apple's chips but is deliberately not activated. This is crazy. Why does Apple hobble their products' potential?

more and more countries will be shutting down fm network totally norway already put in a date

if one has internet access and free data tuneIN provide most of what is on fm in most countries

think most people in many countries today only really listen to fm in their car because it support no DAB or Internet radio or the likes

but you can tell apple your opinion using the feedback channel
