can't buy books or apps on phone

I can get free apps and books but can't purchase anything. My account in current and I have funds available so I am not sure what the issue is. I have restarted my computer and phone both checked for updates, synced the phone, all without issue. Not sure what the next step is.

Have you contacted iTunes Support ? If not then you will need to do so (these are user-to-user forums) :

- go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww

- click on your country's flag

- click on the Contact Support at the bottom of the left-hand column

- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

- then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
