Jul 18, 2015 1:57 PM in response to etjNCby alex_h1,Hello etjNC,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Given you have already confirmed that the Thunderbolt display is functioning on one Mac but not the MacBook Air you want it to, then I'd like you to please follow the steps below on the MacBook Air.
Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
- Start up in Safe Mode.
- From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
- Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
- Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
- Restart your computer.

Jul 19, 2015 3:29 PM in response to alex_h1by etjNC,realized the MacBook Air I'm trying to connect has Mini Display Port vs. Thunderbolt...same size but a gen or so backwards.
Going to look for a refurbed LED Cinema Display for this.
Thanks for the info!
