Don't know what you mean by "info icon". To pair your Watch with your iPhone read Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support. To unpair them read Unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone - Apple Support. US English instructions are here: https://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1708/en_US/apple_watch_user_guide. pdf

Make sure "Airplane Mode" is not "on". You should see the following in Glances (swipe up from the clock face):

If "Airplane Mode" is "on" the little aircraft icon will turn orange and the display will indicate "Disconnected" in red.

I think I found what you're talking about. This is the only place I could find that has anything remotely close to "info icon" in the Watch User Guide. See step 10 (from page 77:)

This does not refer to an "info icon". Rather it assumes you have completed step 9, which is to swipe right once you've had difficulty automatically pairing the Apple Watch. Make sure you have precisely and carefully executed all steps 1 - 8, and have tried and failed to do the automatic pairing referred to in step 8.

Of course, all this assumes you require VoiceOver because you need accessibility assistance. Otherwise, do not use VoiceOver.

If you need to pair your devices manually

After you've put on Apple Watch, chosen a language, and tapped Start Pairing on both devices, follow these steps:

  1. Tap Pair Apple Watch Manually on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the info icon User uploaded file on your Apple Watch. Your device's name should show up on the watch face.
  3. On your iPhone, tap the device name that matches the one you see on your Apple Watch display.
  4. A six-digit code will appear on your Apple Watch. Enter that code on your iPhone to pair the two devices. Then follow steps to Set Up.

I have the same problem as the original poster. I tried to do the auto pairing, but the watch never shows the pairing graphic and never pairs.

The original poster said: "User Manual refers to info icon." It does not. The only reference is the one I cited above.

You found the reference you cited in this article:

So did you go through all the steps in the article, starting at step 1 where you see the language selection area, and then see the "Start Pairing"?

UPDATE: Meant to address this to Neil2.

I tried to do step one, but the watch doesn't know I'm trying to pair it. That's why I tried to do the manual pairing which requires the info icon.

EDIT: Now that I look at the photo of the devices pairing, I see that the info icon will be on the watch if it knows that I'm trying to pair it. The problem is I can't get the watch to that screen. I tried powering off and on, still nothing. I just have the normal apps on the watch.
