Can i get the date to show on the top of my screen?

I don't find it necessary, either. I rarely need to verify the date more than once a day, if that. However, to be fair to the OP, the Calendar app icon is only visible if you're looking at the Home screen, unlike the time in the status bar that's visible almost all the time.

You are correct, the date does not appear on the status bar. If you would like to see such a feature, you can provide feedback to Apple by going to http://www.apple.com/feedback and then click on the appropriate subject area.

Your post is confusing. You ask if the date can be displayed along with the date. Are you referring to the lock screen? The day and date appear on the lock screen. If you are referring to something else, please explain.

I agree. Considering the size of the status bar, additional content there can be confusing as well. While I'm at home, I'm connected to my micro cell, and with that, my Wi-Fi fan, the time, an alarm notification, Bluetooth and battery percentage, that kind of real estate is slim! 😉

The date is already there - and has been since the original iPhone. Look at what the "Calendar" app says.
