Q: I need iDVD to open the 10.0.9 version of iMovie instead of older 9.0.0 version.

I am trying to make a DVD. When I open iDVD and click media, I only see movies from my old iMovie 9.0.9 version not the new 10.0.9 version of iMovie. How do I switch this in iDVD? I don't see a choice for this in the preferences.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

iDVD is not compatible with the Yosemite versions of iMovie or Photos.  Therefore, the only way to get a movie out of iMovie into iDVD is to export it to the Movies folder at 480p and drag it from there into the iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.

Thank you- I appreciate you taking he time to help me. I have another question- can I download the movie into documents? The movie folder is not a choice after I click Share>file.

When you export the movie via the File ➙ Share ➙ File menu option set the size to the minimum of 854 x 480.  I forgot that that iMovie version does not use the 480p designation.

In the next window you can change the libation by selecting a destination that's in the sidebar at the left or by the dropdown menu up top:

You can leave it in the Documents folder, that's you're choice. It's where you're more comfortable with.

Thank you so much again. The above screen dones not appear when I share>file. I only get a screen with limited choices so I'm glad I can save to the documents folder since that is one of the choices.
