I'm selling my 1st generation Time Capsule and I want to erase the contents

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Use the AirPort Utility to erase it. To do so, click here and follow the second set of instructions.

When you choose Erase, be sure to select the "Zero Out" option. "Quick Erase" is not secure.

Allow plenty of time for the Zero Out erase, since it will probably take 4-6 hours or more.
