Hi All

Time Capsule Query: What is the best app for iPad to play media files from Time Capsule on my iPod and iPad.

My Devices: Mac mini, iPhone,iPad,iPod 2Tb, Apple TV

My Goal:

I have just purchased a 2 TB Time Capsule in the hope I can store my study videos and also music on it and then access the media wirelessly from my appletV and iPod/iPads in my home. I do not want or need remote access from outside of my home.

Does Apple have any recommended apps/methods to do this. I have read other forums and found apps like File Explorer etc though was hoping there was an official apple method to do this.

There is no official apps because Apple do not want you using the TC as a media centre. It has no media extensions .. all smarts must be on the ipad or whatever that will connect.

Apple is fully committed to iTunes as their method of handling music/video and this requires a computer. PC or Mac.. and they expect that to provide sharing to the home. Or alternatively iCloud.

You can store iTunes library on the TC but cannot play it from there with an iPad.. so you really need to work out other methods.

If you can use your mini .. that would be a better way to do it.. no matter where you store the library.

If you step completely outside the Apple world then I really am not sure.. you will need different players for different things.

A popular App for iOS devices is FileBrowser.....although it will not do everything.
