Q: Apple Music Error 'Unable to download songs'

Hey,

Really hoping somebody can help me as I've scoured the internet all over looking for the resolution to this issue!

After updating the new software, I was really excited to use Apple Music and began downloading however, when opting to 'make offline', app is constantly saying downloading songs and then says 'Unable to download songs' and give me two options 'Retry' or 'Done'.  This is happening on my iPhone, iPad and on my Mac is simply just says failed.  I have got iCloud sharing on for all devices so I'm really at a loss with this!

Out of the initial 80 tracks I downloaded, about 20 have downloaded fine and are available offline but the other 60 are not available offline for some reason...

Going on holiday on Monday and really wanted to be able to use this feature... any advice welcome :-)

I too can confirm the service is now working with no re-routed DNS.

I am sky broadband customer, who previously had the issue and had to change DNS to get stream/download on any IOS/mac device, i now use the router default settings for DNS and it no issues downloading or streaming.

    Thanks for the update.

I will return my settings to what they were (default) on my iPhone and on my Mac.

See, my problem is that I cannot download both on wifi and 3/4g?! Obviously I cannot change DNS on cellular data so what do I do?!

I'm on Sky Broadband and was previously having the issue. After reading earlier that it had been resolved, I reverted my DNS to what it was previously on both my iPhone and Mac. I can now download/make available offline on both my Mac (iTunes) and on my iPhone.

Yeah, hopefully just a few teething problems for the new service. Hopefully before the 3 months free trial is up, most of the issues are ironed out. Having too many issues is going to make customers either keep their existing music streaming subscription, or put them off subscribing to Apple Music after the trail period is up.

    WORKED FOR ME:

    - on your iPhone, go to "Settings"/"Itunes & App Store"

    - Enable automatic downloads for music.

no more error messages and songs are downloading fine!

Changed DNS but still having issues with song cannot be downloaded, it would have been so much easier if they had made a way to sync via cable from Itunes to phone/pod and then add the stuff on the cloud than relying on wifi to download what or some will be high hundreds of files,

I have this same problem, you have to add it to your music then go to your music tap on the album name not the song. It will come up and just hit the iCloud icon and it should download

delete all of your music from your i device then re download it all, icloud is getting in the way. so i advise you turn off icloud after it's done.

Sorry I'm not too tech savvy. Do you mean log into your router and change DNS? could you kind of walk me through the steps?

I'm in the US and having this problem as well.

It downloaded a few thousand songs then decided it just wasn't going to download anymore.  I've tried the solutions here, none of them have worked.  So, I'm stuck with either syncing my music from my computer or well, nothing.
