Acer LCD Monitor G226HQL looks washed out when hooked up to my mac book?

So I just bought an Acer LCD Monitor G226HQL along with a Mini Display to DVI cord. I followed the instructions when hooking up the monitor to my MacBook Pro (13 inch, Mid 2012). I have tried to adjust the brightness and contrast settings (the monitor isn't letting me adjust any other settings for some reason). If I need to adjust H Position V Position Focus or Clock please let me know how to do this because on the menu it does not let me adjust them at all.
