Q: FCPX 10.2.1 has downloaded fine on my laptop but won't come up on the App Store on my desktop?

I cannot find the update for 10.2.1 on my desktop computer, even though I successfully downloaded it on my laptop.  I am logged in to my iTunes account - but on the App Store, under purchases, FCPX shows up with an 'install' option instead of an 'update' option.  If I click on it, it says it can't install because the software is already installed.

iMac, iOS 5.1.1

    In the Applications folder, select  Final Cut Pro. What is the version number?

    Click this icon in the Dock:

    Hi Alchroma,

     

    FCPX is on my computer, I can call it up and work on other projects - however, I am wanting to work on a project created by another editor that has been created using version 10.2.1.  It is on an external hard drive.  When I plug it in, my version of FCPX (10.2) won't let me open that project - I assume because it was created using a later version.  When I try and download the latest version on my computer, the App Store shows FCPX under purchases, but not under Updates.  It shows an 'Install' icon next to the purchase - but when I click on it, a message pops up to say it can't be installed because it is already on my computer.

    Make a zip file of the application in case something goes wrong (control-click, choose "Compress Final Cut Pro"). Delete the application (but not the zip file). Then download from Purchases. After you are satisfied that the new version downloaded and is working, you can delete the zip file (or keep it if you think you may ever want to run 10.2 in the future).

    I'd run with Luis' idea.

     

    BTW: The other Library may have been on older version. Can you confirm?
