Q: Mac Air only recognising phone as new but it's not

Hello,

My iPhone 5c (v8.4) is working fine, however, when I plug it into my Mac Air (OS X Yosemite 10.10.4) , it's only giving me the option to:

1) Setup as new phone

2) Restore from backup - 22/05/15

However, if I log in to iCloud, it's saying my last backup was today.

I don't want to set it up as a new phone in case I lose everything and I don't want to restore from the ipad backup as it's 6 weeks old.

So what do I do? I want to be able to use my phone with iTunes etc.

iPhone 5c, iOS 8.4

    Hi, JuliaBrenard.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I understand that you have a concern with a prompt you are receiving when connecting your iPhone 5c.  Not to worry as this is normal behavior.  When you setup your iPhone over-the-air and restore from an iCloud backup, this prompt will present itself when you connect the device to your computer for the first time.  You will just need to select the Setup as New option to preserve the current data on your device.  This will not override the current information on your device as long as your select Setup as New.  After you go through this process, you will be able to sync your device.  The article below is just for reference after you select Setup as New.

Sync your iPhone, iPad, and iPod with iTunes using USB
