I bought Windows 8 online from Microsoft online so I don't have a disk, just a file. I can only find how to do the ISO image step with a disk, what do I do?

Okay so I bought Windows 8 (to use with bootcamp on my max), straight from Microsoft, online. I didn't realise it would be a problem at the time, but it's just a file, no disk. This means I'm stuck at the part where you make the ISO image as it requires a disk according to everywhere ive looked. What do I do?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10), Brand new, i5 core processor

M$ gave you a download manager, not an ISO. Please use a Windows PC to download the ISO to a USB and/or DVD and then use it on the Mac to install Windows.

Please start at How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support once you have your ISO file available.

It is unfortunate, but that is how M$ delivers software. One option you do have is to get to the closest Microsoft store and download it one of the available PCs.

The second option is to install Crossover or Wine and use ti run the .exe and download the ISO.

Crossover or Wine will let you execute the .exe file that you have on hand on OS X. This should let you download ISO/DVD. Speed of the the application may not be the greatest though.
