Q: imac restart by itself

Hello,

I have an imac 27" mid 2011, 3.1ghz i5 1tb serial ata hard drive, amd radeon hd 6970m

My problem is imac working fine in safe mode, but when you try to startup normally, it consistently restart by itself.

I believe it is caused by the over heat of amd radeon hd 6970m.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), system restart all the time

After reviewing your post, it sounds like the iMac is restarting on its own. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

If your iMac is having kernel panics a log file should be generated that will likely offer some clue as to what is causing the problem. See here Mac OS X: How to log a kernel panic - Apple Support Copy and paste the log in this thread. That it works fine in Safe Mode "could" indicate a GPU issue or more likely some incompatible or poorly written software causing the panics.
