Even though Google Maps is not a "web browser" it still allows children to access virtually any website if they search the maps for a browser like Google or Yahoo. A "website" icon will appear, and a window opens to a browser with no restrictions. Can can this website access feature be turned off, while still having access to the maps functionality?

I have posted this on the Google Search forum and the Google Maps forum and no one has attempted to resolve the issue. Have you tried to repeat my experience with your iPhone? I imagine this is a problem with Google Maps software. The same is also true if someone were to email a website to themselves, or receive an email link from someone in Gmail. They can click the link and a Gmail becomes a web browser. I had Safari shut off and no other web browsers installed when this happened.

No, I haven't tired to replicate this. I also don't let children use my phone without supervision.
If Google Maps is a problem, remove it. There are other navigation apps available, including the built in app.
I have removed Google Maps, Gmail, and Facebook Messenger (it has a similar problem), but these are very main stream apps and it seems that if the only solution is to remove them that is extreme, but necessary at this point.
That would be something you should suggest to Google.
Any issue you have with Google software needs to be addressed to Google.
