Text message failed to send on my iPad

I was sending an SMS to an iPhone user who has iMessage disabled. The SMS failed to send several times on my iPad Air 2 so I called it quits. I sent a different SMS to a different phone just to see if it was a network issue, but it sent without a problem. When I looked at my iPhone later in the night, the message that failed to send on my iPad showed up in the conversation as if it were sent. When I went to check my iPad later in the night, the message still did not send from that devise. I am confused as to whether or not the message would automatically try to send on my iPhone as well? Or of the message just simply did not send at all from either devise. I did not receive a return text. I was wondering if anyone has been through something similar? Thank you.

Greetings StephanieClear,

Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you were not able to send a message to one contact. You were able to send to another contact. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If you can't send messages to a certain recipient, delete any conversations you have with them and try sending a new message. When you delete a conversation, you won’t be able to recover it.

It may be an issue with only that one conversation, if not here are some steps to try.

Turn iMessage off and back on

Go to Settings > Messages and turn iMessage off, then back on.

Sign out and back in to iMessage and FaceTime

  1. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
  2. Go to Settings > FaceTime, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
  3. On your iPhone first, sign back in to iMessage and Facetime.
  4. Sign back in to iMessage and Facetime on your other devices.

Reset your network settings

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Take care
