I can't delete widgets from my macbook pro.

So I downloaded a third party widget but it ended up being broken or something because it did not work. When I went to delete it using the method where the widgets jiggle with the x in the corner, nothing happened. How do I delete them?

Position the cursor over the widget you want to remove, then hold down the option key and click the button marked with an X in the upper left corner of the widget.
