YouTube draining my battery

Afree I use youtube, and cancel the app. It still drains my battery and I don't know why. I've turned off the background refresh and when I go to battery used in settings, YouTube is on top of the list with like 40% battery used, and under YouTube it says 'audio' usually when its becsuse of background refresh itll say 'background refresh', what I've done at times is delete YouTube and then redownload it, and it helps at times. Whats the reason for this? Its never done this before, It just started to happen like a few days ago. I have the iOS 8.4, iphone 6 plus

iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.3, itunes

Hi Brett,

I purchased a brand new iPad mini last night. I installed the apps and had it charge over night. Tonight for the first time I've used it opened up YouTube and watched 3 music videos approx 3 mins in length each. When I closed the app my battery went from 100% to 31% and when I checked my battery usage it said that YouTube in the 9 minutes I watched a video used 72% of my battery...

WHY!

I can watch hours of videos on my iPhone 6S so why would this happen. Do I have a bad iPad?
