Last successful backup was two weeks ago. I've been having some problems with iPhone and iPad lately: unable to back up on the Mac Mini that has been used for years. iTunes library is on the Mini, iTunes Media Folder is on an external drive. I recently bought a MBP, and I unfortunately connected iTunes to the external drive, before realizing it could mess up the Library (since the Mini and MBP iTunes library files are in the Home folder of each computer, so would not get updated if I change something on the external drive). This might be the source of the problem, but I can't seem to fix it on the iPad.
Here's what I've done so far:
- Got rid of about 8GB of "Other" type of data on the iPhone: I can now sync and back up, but only on the MBP (not the Mini), which is fine. However, the iPad doesn't have much "Other" data to get rid of. Plus, iMazing could not back up the iPad, which makes me think there is something corrupted on the iPad.
- Deleted a bunch of apps on the iPad, in case one was corrupted
- Deleted all Photos on the iPad in case it was a corrupted picture. Anything else I could get rid of that might be corrupted?
- Deleted the latest back up file in Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Back up.

I suspect there is a problem with the Apps, since every time I try a back up, iTunes asks me to transfer Apps from iPad... And indeed, in iTunes, I only see 252 Apps in My Apps, whereas there are over 1000 in the Mobile Applications folder in the iTunes Media Folder.... So I added all Mobile Applications from the iTunes Media Folder using Add to Library from the File menu. Now I don't get asked to Transfer apps, but still unable to back up iPad, same error message...
I've run out of ideas.... Suggestions?
