iPod touch screen wont respond to touch

About 2 days ago, my iPod started acting weird. I would unlock it and then after a few minutes of using it, the screen would stop responding when I touched it. I could still use the home button and it was never frozen. It was annoying and happened every time I opened my ipod, whether it be 15 minutes later or 5 seconds. When I restarted it, it went away for a couple hours. It did come back, however. Then last night, I was flipping through Pinterest when all of a sudden it stopped, as it usually did, but when I restarted it, it wasn't responding to touch. The home button still worked. I tried everything and even waited a few hours before restarting it again, but it is still not responding. I can't get into my iPod because I have a passcode and it wont let me sync it because of the lock. Any ideas on how I can fix this? I have it updated to 8.4.

I have had my 5th generation iPod since Christmas of last year, and it hadn't given me any problems up until now. I did crack the screen two months ago, but it was fixed through iCracked repairs. It could be a hardware malfunction, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on if it might be caused from the update or some other technical thing.

Please make an appointment and take it in for service.

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken

Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.

ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

There are third-party firms that do repairs on iDevices, and there are places where you can order parts to DIY if you feel up to the task:

1. iResq or Google for others.

2. Buy and replace screen yourself: iFixit

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:

iTunes: Restoring iOS software

Restore to fctory settings/new iPod since they may be corruption that is in the backup

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
