microtech USB cameramate driver

Haven't been able to use this dual media reader [http://www.steves-digicams.com/microtech_cameramate.html] for a while and would really like to figure out if a driver exists so I can use this on my G4/10.3.9 again. I just downloaded what the people at Smartdisk claim is the current driver. WHen I plugged in my cameramate after installation and restart it just freezes up my G4. Arghh. Any input that might solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
