Q: superdrive doesn't work; DVD problems
Hi All,
I have a brand new MacBook and an older USB SuperDrive, version 12.21. When I connect the SuperDrive through the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter nothing happens. I just updated OSX to the latest 10.10.4. I tried rebooting, still nothing. I tried starting the DVD app, and it says there's no supported disk in the drive (but there is). I plugged the same drive (with the same disk) into my MacBook Pro 15 Inch, and it worked right away. (I also have tried an Amazon Basics DVD drive with the new MacBook, and it works, sort of. I can play a video, for a while, but after running a while, it stops with an error message. Sorry, I can't reproduce the error message because that drive is in another location at the moment.)
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Mac computers that can use an Apple USB SuperDrive - Apple Support
Quoting what seems to be relevant information about use with the new MacBook from the link above:
*If you're using a MacBook Air SuperDrive and it was manufactured before Fall 2010, it won't work with the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter or the USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter. To identify these drives, plug in the drive and open System Information. Click the Disk Burning tab in the System Information window. If your SuperDrive displays 1CHQ or 2CH9 as its firmware version, it's not supported with these USB-C adapters.
