How to Review History in Safari Private Mode

Hello everyone,

I gave iPhone6 to my kid and before the phone upgrade to OS8.3, I could review what websites she went to in Safari and prevented some problems. However, now Safari has a new feature with Private Mode. It looks like my hands are tied, I cannot view whatever websites she goes through. It is a big problem for my family.

I am wondering if someone knows and share experience how to review the history in Safari's Private Mode.

Please help.

Thank You!

iPhone 6, iOS 8.3

Unfortunately you cannot do this being that private mode was used. However, I would recommend using Restrictions for the future. Navigate to Settings>General>Restrictions and setting up a password. After this, scroll down to Websites and check "Limit Adult Content." This will completely disable Private mode from being used in the future, and as an added bonus, it will prevent the user from accessing particularly inappropriate sites.

Hi My_ABC,

I understand your concern, but the whole point of Private Mode is to keep from saving history on Safari. What you can do is set up restrictions on the phone. Go to Settings > General > Restrictions, and choose Safari. You'll need to choose a passcode and from there, you can choose to automatically restrict adult websites or always block specific websites or block access to all websites except for ones you allow.

I still hope there are some ways to review the history in Safari's Private Mode.

No, there is not. That's the whole point of private mode. However, there's nothing that says you need to use Safari. Download another browser from the App Store. There are some that are designed specifically for children. Then, once it's downloaded, go to Settings>General>Restrictions and disable Safari. Be sure to chose a passcode that you can remember but that your child is not likely to guess. It does not have to be (and should NOT be) the same as the passcode for the phone itself.
