Issue with Safari post 10.10.4 update

I have just updated to 10.10.4; my Safari was quite slow with the last update and I was hoping this one would solve the issue.

Nope, it's even worst. As an example Safari (8.0.7) does not open Facebook anymore (can't establish a secure connection).

(Mail seems pretty messed up as well; my Exchange account does not synchronise anymore; but I won't try to solve this now)

I don't have any extensions installed on Safari

I clear website history, deleted the library cache (basically reset Safari)

If I start in recovery mode, and select "get help online", the version of Safari that opens is 8.0.5 and this one works perfectly fine!

I have read lots of people are having this issue and the answer is usually "use Chrome".

I do not want to use Chrome!

Is there any way to roll back to Safari 8.0.5?

Any other suggestions?

Shall I visit the Geniuses?

Thank you!

I think you are definitely onto something there!

Home connection + Safari +Avast Shield -> No Facebook

Phone connection+ Safari+Avast Shield -> Facebook OK

Home connection+Safari+Avast Shield OFF -> Facebook OK

After quitting Safari, re-enabling Avast Webshield, restarting Safari -> Facebook OK

After restarting computer (Webshield still on), restarting Safari -> NO Facebook

So it looks like for a weird reason Avast Web shield is messing up with Safari 8.0.7/IOS X 10.10.4 on certain internet connections!

Thank you very much for your help Carolyn!

Any suggestion as to install a different (free) web shield?

EDIT: I have now added an exception to the Avast Webshield, and Safari doesn't seem to be blocking Facebook anymore.

Yipee! Hopefully this is the real end now 😀

EDIT2: Nope. Not stable. Avast/Safari blocks Facebook again!
