Q: Aperture Projects to Photos

In my aperture I have a folder for each year and then project in each folder:

Like this....

Folder <2000>

     Project <2000 Christmas>

Folder <2001>

     Project <Christmas 2001>

How will that convert in Photos?

Thanks!

iMac (27-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

See this document on how an Aperture library will migrate to Photos:  How Photos handles content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

The new Photos.app does not have projects like Aperture.  The library is split into "Moments" like in Photos on an iPhone.  Moments are created completely automatically based on the location the photo and on the date. Basically, photos taken at the same time at the same place will be grouped as a moment.  Released moments will be grouped as collections.

When you migrate your Aperture library to Photos, Photos will try to save your projects as albums to preserve the names and the sets of photos.

It will create an album for each of your projects and and a folder for each of your folders.

You will see folders and albums named like this in a folder called "iPhoto Events".

    Folder <2000>

        Album <2000 Christmas>

    Folder <2001>

         Album <Christmas 2001>
