How to restrict wifi frequency

I have upgraded to Bell Fibe but while range looks better actual performance is worse. Can I restrict iPad to 2.4 ghz?

iPad, iOS 4.3.2, Safari

Thanks Carolyn

I am connected however since installing a Home Hub 2000 I have been experiencing a high frequency of dropped connections. When I test the network efficiency 2.4 is showing approx 58% probably due to conflicts with other nearby networks. The hub uses both 2.4 & 5 and was reputed to have greater range but that has not resulted in an improvement over the Home Hub 1000 so far, it is actually worse.

Do you need 2.4 for anything else? If not, can you simply disable the 2.4Ghz radio in the router? Or set them up as separate networks (that's what I do with my NetGear - each radio has a separate SSID). There is no way to set that on the iDevice itself in iOS - it will also simultaneously search both bands and select the one with the strongest/best signal.
