Q: IPad mail frozen too many photos in email

I Inserted four photos into an email using the iPad2 Mail but the screen froze, went blank and now I can't use Mail. When I click on the icon it goes to a white screen for about ten seconds and then switches to the start up screen. I have done the restart process using top and bottom buttons but without luck. I have also deleted the offending messages on my computer.

iPad 2, iOS 8.4

Double-click on your home button, find the mail app and slide upwards to close it.

Thank you but I have tried that too. I sent an email with four photos and realised that two had not been sent si I opened up the original and tried to forward it with the four photos. The screen froze then closed down and reverted to the start up screen. I later found that none of the messages were sent so I deleted them on my computer, iPad and iPhone  I have Googled for a solution but as I am ( obviuosly) not too clever on the computer I cannot undetake the restore process.

Having done the same thing you might have to do the reset a couple of times. Press and hold both the home and power buttons until the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait until your iPad starts on it's own.

It took a couple of tries and almost 20 minutes for the log jam to clear.

Don't know what caused your app to freeze, but as general info, aside from the Mail app, which email service provider are you using - icloud or your ISP or ?

All email providers have set maximums on email attachments; for instance, here are iCloud's:

Mailbox size and message sending limits in iCloud - Apple Support

One of the email services I use has a 10 MB limit.

Thanks for the reply, sorry about the delay in replying but I have tied myself in knots and only just got my Apple id sorted! I have done what you say about 12 times since my in built Mail app froze on Saturday last. I have two other replies to my original plea an d will try what they say. I may pop into the Apple store in town as I believe that they have a help desk there (they wanted £25 to do an on line chat!)

Thanks for the reply and sorry to be late in replying, have tied myself in knots trying to sort this out!

I am with Sky for my isp but they went with Yahoo so I don't really know whether I am with Sky or Yahoo. I have in the past had a gmail account, a Hotmail etc., but I now tend to use Sky/Yahoo or Windows live mail.

I have windows 8 on my machine but the Mail app will not link with the People app which has all my contact names in but NOT their email addresses! I fear that I have tied one of my favourite knots when first using Windows 8 (at my advanced years that is not too hard to do!

If I tell you any more of my problems you will run away!

You're welcome. Please let us know what Apple suggests. Thank you.
