How to delete old phone numbers that appear in auto-complete list in Message app

I've deleted a contact's old phone number in the Contacts app, and have confirmed the number is gone on both my Mac and my iPhone. But when I go to Message this person from my Mac, the old number still appears in the auto-complete list. Is there a way to delete the old number from the auto-complete list? It's the same concept as how to delete an old email address in Mail (Window > Previous Recipients); does anyone know how to do this in the Messages app?
