Turn on macbook pro, folder with interrogation mark appears.

Hi.

Yesterday, when i turned on my macbook pro, a folder with an interrogation mark appeared.

I try the following: reset nvram, try to reinstall osx, change hard disk.

Nothing happened. The folder with the interrogation mark is still showned.

What can i do?

Tks.

Hi GonLake,

If you see a folder with a question mark when you turn on your Mac, follow the troubleshooting steps in this guide. I've highlighted the key information for you. Click on the link for more details.

Folder with a question mark

User uploaded file

If you see a folder with a question mark appear instead of the Apple logo, it means your Mac couldn't find a local or network-based startup disk. This can happen if the disk selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences isn't available. Wait a few seconds to see if your Mac is able to locate the startup disk you specified.

If you still see a flashing question mark after waiting a few moments, use Startup Manager to start up your Mac, then re-select your startup disk from System Preferences.

If a flashing question mark appears after you install a software update, re-select your startup disk using OS X Recovery.

Regards,

If you have a non retina MBP, take out the HDD and install it in an enclosure. Connect it to the MBP via USB and use startup manager to boot the MBP:

If it boots that MBP, then the internal SATA cable is the problem. If it is not recognized or does not boot the MBP, the the HDD has failed and must be replaced.

If you have a retina MBP, bring it in to an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.

Ciao.
