iMovie 10.0.5 audio sync problem

I created an iMovie using my old video camera with "tapes" and the voice sound was not synced with the picture. I just bought a new Canon Vixia that uses a SDHC card. I thought that would solve my problems, but it didn't. I have read about this problem, but the posts are very old.

Is there a fix for this? I hesitate to upgrade to iMovie 11 after reading all the problems.
