Thanks Barney for being very clear on this. I think there maybe a set of circumstances perhaps of my own making that has confused the issue. Firstly, I had never seen the "Blue Folder" icon turn to a "ZIP" icon before. Secondly, the first time I noticed it the recipient emailed to say it couldn't be opened (see attached). The last folder I sent that turned into a ZIP icon (resulting in my question to the Forum) has now returned to a "Blue Folder." I have yet to hear from the recipient. Cheers, jp
Hello jay pegg,
The ZIP file part is normal. When sending files to PC users, you have to make sure to avoid giving them a file that a PC cannot handle. Make sure your file names are short and don't have any special characters or punctuation.
That is the only way to send a folder. I'm not sure what you were seeing before.
Attachments must be encoded to pure text in order to send via email because the email protocol is text only.
So the folder and contents must be encoded to text and zipping it first creates a single file that can then be encoded easily.
Send each file in the folder separately or, create a zip archive containing all the files first then attach the zip archive to the email.
