Why won't certain websites load anymore?

Hi Everyone!

I'm getting very frustrated with this situation and any search I do leads me nowhere. For whatever reason if I go to some of my favorite sites, the iMac just sits and thinks, nothing loads, and eventually it just times out saying the website is not responding. But if I go on the iPad, iPhone, or my wife's PC every page loads perfectly fine. I can only assume there is a setting on my iMac that is preventing me from going to the websites I want.

Additionally, there are sites that I would be able to get to the home page, but as soon as I click anywhere else it just times out. Other times, I will go on a regular site that I have had no previous issues with and it will time out and then I have to go to the AirPort icon in the top right corner and hover over "Turn AirPort On" to recognize my network.

I feel like there should be a simple solution to this, but I could be way off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the same problem if using the ethernet?

Which browser are you using? Same problems crop up if you try using other browsers?

Try the basics first:

Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.

Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.

System Preferences>Network

Click the Assist Me button.

In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary. Report back the results.

Also, run the Airport Utility app which is located inside the Utilities folder.
