Thank you for any help you can give me. This is a luxury, but helps my sanity...

It's a component of Windows; you're probably better off playing the game in your web browser(many websites offer it) or finding a Mac OS X-native version of it.

Yu will have to install Windows first using Boot Camp Assistant or using a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox. This seems like a lot of trouble to go to in order to play Free Cell.
app store for OS X has plenty of free versions of the game
type freecell in the search field in app store on your macbook air
if you already put windows on and looking for it there then go into the control panel and go to add & remove windows components/ features or whatever it's called these days
Thank you everyone who has responded. I think I will go along with BobTF's suggestion, "This seems like a lot of trouble to go to in order to play Free Cell". I still have a Windows 7 machine up and running, so I can go to it now and then and have a play...
Thanks Rudegar. Actually the store does not seem to have a simple Freecell game, and above all (like so many other aficionados) I want the XP version, the only one worthy of the name. Like so much else, quality deteriorates with upgrades...
