My iPad won't charge while I use it. It charges fine (slow but fine) when I'm not using it but then if I'm using it it's like it just starts slowly losing battery. This only started happening recently. My iPad is an iPad 2 and I've had it for about 2 years. Also I don't use the original cord anymore and the cord I use is not an apple cord. Is that the problem? If not what is?
The cable may be the reason for the problem. Try using the one manufactured by Apple.
Try to reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on the phone.
Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

Are you charging from a computer USB or the wall plug power adaptor yout iPad came with? A computer's USB port will not have enough power to charge and run it, but the wall plug unit should easily do so.
Using a non-apple cord may be a problem, but more often then not iPads will not charge if they are being used. It is best just to let it charge without playing on it so it will charge.
