0026736E48E6 error trying to AirPrint

I am trying to print from my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.4 to an AirPrint-compatible Ricoh MP C8002 (which is up-to-date on drivers). I tap the Share icon, then select Print from the options shown. In Printer Options, the Ricoh MP C8002 appears in the Printer section. I tap Print. After a few seconds, a message pops up that says:

RICOH MP C8002

[0026736E48E6]

An error occurred printing this document.

Cancel Try Again

Tapping Try Again yields the same results. Support from the printer vendor is unable to help. Wireless printing does work between these devices using the Printer Pro or Ricoh Print&Scan apps, but their usefulness is limited. I need to be able to use AirPrint for full functionality.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Had power-cycled router, resulting in error described.

Rebooted printer, with new results: Selecting Print yields Printing to "RICOH MP C8002..." dialog box which displays "Contacting Printer", "Preparing", and "Sending to Printer Page 1 of...". But then nothing happens.

Restarted iPhone with no change in results.

This is a fairly new printer. But I think we were able to print via AirPrint previously. I know we can print some things using the Printer Pro and Ricoh Scan&Print apps. But they don't work nearly as well as AirPrint does. All on the same WiFi network.

It is Apple at fault really, they broke the Ricoh AirPrint capability on the move from iOS8.3 (worked) to 8.4.

They made a change to the Certificate key algorithm requirement to a length not supported by Ricoh.

There should be updated Ricoh firmware in the near future to fix what Apple broke.

Log a call with your Ricoh supplier, they should be able to log it and let you know when a fix is available.

The Ricoh print and scan app is pretty good IMHO, it at least prints pictures correctly, AirPrint doesn't attempt to fit it to the page size.

So Apple made the phone more secure, and that is a bad thing? The wonders of the modern world!

Thanks for the update; Ricoh owners should be happy again. There's always the question of what's "fast enough." It likely that Ricoh (and other manufacturers) were notified months ahead, but software updates containing cumulative fixes and enhancements go out on a fixed schedule, and Apple's notification did not come in time for a scheduled update from Ricoh. I have to deal with issues like this regularly.

Edit: My HP printer was ready when 8.4 arrived.
