Thank you. Very clear steps.

I made a typo trying to access Thingiverse.com and was taken to the Macsaver101.com site with the popup. Both froze on the screen.

Followed your steps

•Force Quit Safari.

*Disconnected from network (in my case, unplugged ethernet cable)

• Reopened Safari. Shift Key Down

Clicked "Don't Reopen" for the Safari box asking about reopening windows from the previous Safari session.

•entered the URL for DuckDuckGo.com

*Reconnected the network.

•Opened Safari Cookies and found a cookie for macsaver101.com which I removed.

I don't know if Macsaver101 installed any additional cookies with more obscure names. Nothing caught my eye. But, I may restore my Cookies folder from a TimeMachine backup of a few days ago just to be sure. Haven't done that yet.

Now, 12 hours later, and thanks to you all continues to work smoothly.
