Coffee spilled on a table where my MacBook Air was setting. It started seeping out from the bottom. Any suggestions on what to do to save it?

There was splenda in the coffee. It did not shut down immediately. As soon as the coffee spilled, my daughter immediately picked up the MacBook Air, I dried the visible liquid off with a towel. The password screen was up, she then plugged it in and a white box with a "?" came on the screen. I told her to keep it unplugged. The screen is currently blank, & I don't dare try to turn it on now, based on the community replies.

🙂. so that's a "yes. it did shut down" then.

Most damage was caused at that moment, electrical short circuits, the rest of the damage will occur over time as corrosion destroys the logic board. You may be the lucky one that gets away with it, but please, don't hold your breath.

seventy one and CSound1: Update to my coffee spill:

We put the MacBook Air in a 2-gal ziplock bag to determine if there was still liquid in it. There was no condensation in the bag, so we assume the liquid is gone. We now have it outside in the dry warm air again today. Per both your suggestions, we have not tried turning it on. Also, splenda isn't sticky like sugar, so my fingers are still crossed.

Any suggestions based on the above?
