I would like my Apple Watch to vibrate but not my iPhone

Hi i have an iphone 5 and an Apple Watch Sport.

I have my vibrations turned off on all notifications on my iphone, with only the screen lighting up or the notification popping up as a banner on the top of the screen if i have my iphone in hand, with only a phone call making sound, if the phone is on silent then the phone will only light up for all notifications. I would like my watch to vibrate when it is notifying me of a new whatsapp/call/sms etc.

The reason for this is i use a sleep recording/alarm app that means my phone is under my pillow during the night, i dont want the phone to vibrate when it is on silent overnight as it will wake me up. I cannot use the "Do not Disturb" function on the iPhone as the app must be running and the phone screen on and face down (not in sleep mode/locked).

Is there a way for my watch to vibrate but my phone to stay completely silent?

Thank you its really been bugging me!

Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Click the "My Watch" tab in the lower left. Then set:

Notifications > Phone > Custom > Haptic = "On"
