Q: Transferring info from ipod touch to iphone

Can i transfer apps/contacts from ipod to iphone and then change apple ID without losing it?  Upgrading my son  and he's got lots of games on the ipod that he'll want to continue on the iphone.  However, the ipod uses my husbands apple ID (which is wrong, we've learned.)  want totransfer it all and then switch to his own apple ID.
