Q: iPhone Backup

I recently switched iCloud accounts and lost a whole bunch of photos. If I restore a backup to my phone I did a couple of days ago, do I get all my photos back? I am aware that everything in between now and the last backup will be deleted, but I just want to know if everything that was on the last backup will be restored?

I go into iTunes on my mac and click "Restore Backup" and then it says only messages, contacts and calendars will be restored. Does this mean I won't get my photos back or not?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.3

If the photos were stored in the cloud they aren't included in an iTunes backup. See the information below from About backups in iCloud and iTunes - Apple Support

Also, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "switched iCloud accounts" but if your photos were in iCloud Photo Library you can log on to icloud.com for the account in question using any computer and view and download the photos from there.

    iTunes backups

From your Mac or PC, you can make a backup of your device in iTunes. Syncing your device with your computer isn't the same as making a backup.

An iTunes backup includes nearly all of your device's data and settings. An iTunes backup doesn't include:

    • Content from the iTunes and App Stores, or PDFs downloaded directly to iBooks (You can back up this content using Transfer Purchases in iTunes.)
    • Content synced from iTunes, like imported MP3s or CDs, videos, books, and photos
    • Photos already stored in the cloud, like My Photo Stream, and iCloud Photo Library
    • Touch ID settings
    • Apple Pay information and settings
    • Health and Keychain data (To back up Health and Keychain data, you'll need to use Encrypted Backup in iTunes.)
