Q: Monitoring website browsing of 9 year old daughter

We have just noticed some adult content being viewed on my daughters iPod when I clicked open websites.

I would like more information before I confront this to make sure if this was deliberate or not.

Is there any app or way of being notified of time and what content is being viewed when it is considered adult content.

I guess I'm curious if this is friends instigating this or something she is doing on her own.  She is only 9 and can be sensitive to confrontation so I would like to approach it as knowledgable of the action before hand.  Also curious if she is just clicking on a stupid add on a website that is appropriate and then inicently being bombarded by crap.

I do know how to block this context now... Never really worried about it before as didn't feel it was necessary but will from now on.

Thank you for any input and feed back.

iPod touch, iOS 8.4, null

AS long as she wasn't using private browsing and didn't clear the history you could take a look at the history and see if there are web searches for the adult content. There is no way without talking to her to find out whether her or her friends ere the ones who found the sites.  And I would recommend setting up the content blocks you mentioned. I am unaware of any apps that do that currently. Norton has an app, but it only tracks computer data And can be viewed by the parent in an app, but won't track and iOS data. If you can see her history and there aren't searches for the adult content, see if you can spot the website that was right before the adult one. If it is a site you know has many ads it may have been an innocent mistake.

This looks down the iPod very well but is a paid subscription service after the free trial period

Thanks for the responses.  I guess I'm more looking for something that would send me a message at the time she tried to access this type of information.  Then I can go right to her and say hey what's going on.  I do know about how to filter it in future but I would just prefer to find a way to confront it as it's happening.

The only way would be if there was one app that support both browsing and sending the email. Apple severly limits interactions between apps.

I do not know of such an app.

I Thought of another idea that may possibly work. If you have an extra device that you don't use for safari turn of iCloud and then turn on iCloud on your daughters ipod. This may allow you to see what tabs she has open at the time. I have not personally used iCloud for this purpose, so I don't know that it would work. If you are interested here is the link of instructions for setting up iCloud in safari and tabs. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202530

Not exactly what I was hoping was possible but definitely a good point our other devices are run that way actually and yes I can see sites my wife and I are on each others devices so that could work for hers.

    Thank you

You can turn on Restrictions in General Settings. There, you can block certain websites and sites that are rated above her age. You can also allow certain blocked websites as well. This will block her from using Private Mode and from erasing history as well.
