Q: Hello, friends. I recently picked up a MacBook Pro for college, and I would like to create my own Apple ID, but also keep my purchases from my family's account.
I would really, really like to escape the family Apple ID, lets call it familyaccount, to create my own just so I can have my new Macbook and my iPhone work together seamlessly and be able to control my own money and account, looking into the future. The new Mackbook and my iPhone are currently on familyaccount. I don't have a ton of iTunes purchases on familyaccount, just about $70 worth, but that's enough that I don't want to re-purchase all of the music again if I make my own Apple ID.
So basically, is there a way to transfer content from familyaccount to a new Apple ID? Is that the purpose of Home Sharing? I don't understand the purpose of home sharing at all.. How would I go about doing that, if possible?
Has anyone else gone through a similar situation?
Is there a slightly rebellious/creative way around repurchasing everything?
Or am I better off staying on familyaccount for the rest of my life?
Any help and advice is greatly appreciated
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

It is a good idea for each person to have their own Apple ID. The following has some info on Family Sharing and may be one way to go:
