Depends entirely on what damage was done by the liquid that got into your device. You will need to have it evaluated before you can move forward.
Please make an appointment and take it in for service.
If the iPod is now dry repair replacement is required.
To dry place in a sealed container with a desiccant (uncooked rice works) for a week and change the desiccant periodically.
If still problem:
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.

Fix it yourself if you are up to it. However, that is hard since yo really do not know what component(s) are defective
