Q: iPad Mini won't back up after update to iOS 8.4 ("not enough free space is available")
After I installed iOS 8.4 (directly on the iPad, not through iTunes – clearly a mistake), my iPad Mini won't back up either to my computer (MacBook Pro, running Yosemite) or to iCloud. I keep getting the old "iTunes could not back up the iPad because not enough free space is available on this computer. Removing files and emptying the Trash will free up additional space" message that people have been reporting since 2012.
Obviously that is not the problem, as my iPhone 4S is still backing up to my computer just fine. I also have 129 GB of free disk space.
I've already tried all of this: If you can't make an iTunes backup of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (turning off/on, resetting the device, unplugging all other USB devices, resetting the lockdown folder, etc.), as well as deleting the existing backup file (both from iTunes and by moving the backup folder out of the MobileSync folder), restarting the computer, deleting about 10 GB from my computer hard drive, and syncing through wi-fi instead of USB. Nothing works.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
