Garageband backup from Time Machine

HI,

I've just done a full re-install of Yosemite after upgrading my Hard Drive, and migrated all my data over using Time Machine. Everything migrated over successfully and my machine looks like it did before in stalled the new drive.

EXCEPT my Garageband Songs did not migrate over. All the files are ZERO BYTES in size when i go to "Get Info". When I go into the Time Machine backup it was restored from, the files are also ZERO BYTES in some which suggests that Time Machine never saved the files properly.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? And does anyone know if perhaps miraculously I could restore these files somehow (if maybe its saved to another location??)

How did you restore the GarageBand projects? Did you launch Time Machine and restored the projects from the Starwars display, or did you simply drag them from the time machine drive to your Mac?

If you simply browse the backup without Time Machine, the projects may show with zero size.

If you did not restore using Time Machine, launch Time Machine and go back in time, to a moment where you are seeing your projects.

Select a project and click "restore".

Thanks for your reply léonie.

I restored the projects from the star wars display. Because they were relatively new songs I'd been working on in Garageband, I had only ever saved them once using time machine and when i go back to the one time it was back-up, there is no content in the song file! This is even after I click "restore" - I have no idea why this has happened as time machine is usually really reliable.

Am just hoping that the files for the songs may be saved elsewhere, and that someone can tell me if they are in fact recoverable. Though my guess is that they are gone!

Did you perhaps save the projects to iCloud and not locally on your Mac? Which version of GarageBand are you using?
