Streaming videos from MacBook Pro to TV using Apple TV.

When I use my iPhone and iPad to stream films onto the TV using Airplay via Apple TV I have no issues. When I use my MacBook Pro to do the same thing the picture is jumpy. It looks like a slideshow of photos instead of a film. I am using the same router and network as I do using my iPhone and iPad. What am I doing wrong? Both the Apple TV and the Macbook Pro are new models on the latest software. Thanks.

Mistake on the above - Macbook is on OS X Yosemite 10.10.3!!

could be a network quality issue you can connect the macbook and the appletv by ethernet cable to the router to verify it as the cause

I can try that. I thought it wouldn't be the network as I have no issues with my iPad and iPhone and its the same network and router I'm using with the macbook. Last night I tried to play a film on the macbook, it wouldn't play right so I used my iPad and it worked perfect. I will try connecting it with an ethernet cable and see if it makes any difference, thanks.
